Commemorating the 30th Anniversary of the Domestic Violence Act

Due to the advocacy of women’s organisations and across the Caribbean, two critical amendments were made to the Act in 1999 and 2019. Now, elders, children and other vulnerable persons in a household can apply for and obtain a protection order.

August 2021 was declared as the Domestic Violence Act Awareness Month during which time a number of persons were recognised for their significant contributions to the content of the law and its implementation.
